Miles Prower: The Absent Minded Genius (One Shot)
"Stupid wrench!" I growled under my breath as I gave my tool another sharp tug. It was times like these that made me jealous of Sonic, Knuckles, and the others who managed to get all the cool super powers while I can barely tighten a bolt. Oh sure, flying is great when you're trying to reach the top shelf in your pantry, but it doesn't do much good when you're trying to mount something as heavy as a wing onto a fuselage and a bolt manages to get stuck. I would call Knuckles, but I really don't want to hear all the rap I'd get later for calling him all the way from Angel Island to get him to help me with what amounts to opening a pickle jar. After working at the bolt for almost fifteen minutes I was starting to lose my patience. Hopefully I would have it finished before my date with Cosmo. I can't stand leaving a job unfinished, and I'd hate to be distracted by a stuck bolt while I'm with her.
It's funny, ever since Cosmo and I became an item after she came back I've discovered more thi
TCDN Ch. 1: Happy Birthday Tails!"SURPRISE!!!" Shouted all who were gathered in the room as a small, two-tailed kitsune stepped into his dimly lit home, briefly disoriented by the light from the overhead lamp being suddenly thrown in his face. When his vision cleared he looked up to see his plethora of friends scattered around his living room, each with huge smiles on their faces as they heralded another year of age for the genius fox boy. Present was his best friend, Sonic the Hedgehog, wearing a striped party hat as though it were a crown as he jumped from one foot to the other excitedly. Then there was Amy, standing closely next to Sonic bearing a colorfully wrapped gift in hand which was neatly tied with a bow of sparkly ribbon. There was Vanilla, accompanied by her daughter Cream and her pet Chao Cheese, all standing near the coffee table by a cake which was almost certainly made by eldest rabbit. Sitting on the sofa was Knuckles, looking to be in pain, but was smiling nonetheless. Kick-standing on the wall to hi
TCDN Ch. 9: Cold CompassionGelid eyes scanned the surrounding forest as a bulky mechanical figure lumbered through the dense underbrush, crushing foliage under its mighty feet and leaving indentations in the soil that supported his titanic weight. Rotating its torso in a three-hundred and sixty degree arc, the robot attempted to gather more of his surroundings than its stationary-set optical sensors would ordinarily allow. Coming to a halt, the artificial construct sifted through its memory banks, much of which were incomplete and had become fragmented. Since its awakening, as he so described it, the E-Series unit calling itself Omega had become lost in its own existence. In the process of gaining consciousness, his creator had implemented one final failsafe should such an event occur. While the droid did indeed recall the events of its activation and subsequent establishment as a conscious intelligence, all recollection of its creator's location--his bases, his safe houses, even his general whereabouts, had bee
TCDG Ch. 1: Together Again
The sun had risen over the horizon and began casting its warm rays over the landscape. A cloudless blue sky stretched out overhead as a light breeze blew across the coastline. Small waves gathered in the distant water, creating a serene purr as they broke against the shoreline. Overhead danced a flock of seagulls singing their happy tune as they took in the new morning. The day had begun in a way that could only be described as perfect.
Two lone figures sat closely together in the soft sand as they too enjoyed the beautiful morning. A honey colored fox stared out over the horizon as he supported an emerald haired girl upon his shoulder, who leaned into him with a contented sigh. They sat in silence, enjoying each other's closeness as they stared at the beautiful scenery. The fox looked over at the green haired girl with admiration in his eyes and smiled happily. The girl, with un-bloomed flowers in her hair, looked back at the blue eyed fox with equal admiration before turning back to
TCDG Ch. 2: Becoming Reacquainted
When they finally reached Tails' house, Cosmo could not help but be impressed by Tails' humble abode. His house was a small A-Frame style building, which was perched on the edge of a hill consisting of two stories and what looked like a basement area toward the back. There was also a shed like structure off to the side of his house, which Cosmo assumed was his workshop. What impressed her more was the fact that Tails lived in and maintained his house on his own with no parents or guardians to look after him. She wondered if this ever made him feel lonely. She also began to wonder where his parents were and why they had left their son to take care of himself. Cosmo could not help but pity Tails as they walked toward his front door.
As they approached his front door, Tails reached over to the side of his doorframe and began typing on a keypad built into the wall. Cosmo watched in curiosity as Tails did this, wondering what possible function the keypad could hold. She received her answer
TCDN Ch. 6: The EveningA wailing scream erupted in Tails' ear as the young kitsune's eyes shot wide open. The fox jolted upward with a start, very nearly knocking Cosmo off of him as he was startled by his alarm. Woken by Tails' sudden panic the Seedrian tumbled face forward on the mattress, looking up at Tails with widened eyes.
"M-Miles!" Cosmo exclaimed sitting up quickly, "What on Mobius-"
"Stupid alarm!" Tails barked slamming his hand down on his wrist computer, killing the irritating siren, "I hate that thing! It's the worst wakeup call ever!"
"Well, it did get us up…" Cosmo yawned rubbing her eyes as she looked around the room, "What time is it?"
"Five o'clock." Tails answered, gingerly climbing out of bed and reaching for his gloves, "We need to get ready if we're going to make that reservation."
"That what?" Cosmo asked now alert, "Reservations? Where are you taking us, Tails?"
"Dang it, I didn't mean to say that!" Chuckled the fox slipping on his sneakers, "You'll find out soon. Just keep yo
Taismo: Dark Guardian - Epilogue: Settling Down
A few days had passed since the destruction of Eggman's Ultimate Badnik and things were once again settling down for Team Sonic. Routine began to set in again and the friends had resumed the normal activities with which they were usually involved in. One obvious difference remained however, and that was the presence of Jaran Kai. Undeniably their trust of him was still shaky, but everyone had begun to adapt to the presence of their new human companion. When Team Sonic participated in group activities Kai would often join them, although he was still a bit standoffish. While the construction of his house had been delayed by their ordeal with Eggman, it continued to progressed slowly forward. Now that Kai was no longer using the construction as a distraction he had become a great deal less picky with the details of the building. He and Tails would usually work through half-a-day, and then he would allow Tails to return home to meet Cosmo for their daily conjugation.
As for the young coupl
TCDN Ch. 8: She Says...From behind glassy eyes, the Seedrian beauty smiled more brightly and passionately than Tails had ever witnessed of her before. Her entire body shook with excitement as she slowly lowered her quaking hands from in front of her face, finding herself unable to speak as her raging emotions overwhelmed her. Remaining on one knee, Tails waited anxiously. Time seemed to slow to a crawl, each second becoming an infinity unto itself. Staring into the bottomless depths of each other's sea-blue eyes, the two lover's minds began to intertwine, mingling in a manner more deeply and intimately than either had experienced before. For a moment, the two became lost to their special connection, their individual minds becoming indistinguishable as they briefly merged into a single consciousness; a single entity existing in perfect love.
An unknown time passed before Tails realized that he was still on his knee. Recoiling slightly, the terror of Cosmo's silence began to set in. "Cosmo, please say somethin
TCDN Ch. 7: The Question...Striking the wall with a resonant bang the restroom door burst inward, as a young, two-tailed kitsune bolted inside for cover. Frantically scanning the room, he quickly ducked into one of the private stalls, shutting the door and bolting it behind him. With quivering hands, Tails sat on the latrine behind him, shutting his eyes and leaning his head against the back wall. Beads of sweat laced his brow as his body shook timorously. After managing to calm himself somewhat he lowered his head into his hands, eyes filling with tears.
For some time he sat alone sobbing, as the shame of his actions weighed itself on his mind. He had been so ready, or so he though. Having loved and defended Cosmo so passionately since her return, he wanted nothing more than to solidify their commitment in matrimony. The notion of her becoming “Missus Prower” used to make his heart leap. Yet now, at the moment of truth, the one immense obstacle he had tried so hard to ignore finally reared its ugly
